Biography

Quentin Walston is a pianist, composer, and music educator from Loudoun County, Virginia. Often performing solo and trio jazz, Quentin also composes music for his chamber ensemble. Quentin’s primary instrument is piano, though he started his music career as a folk singer and guitarist. While studying piano at JMU, he switched to performing jazz, seeking to blend it with his earlier influences. Quentin released his first full-length album, “Play”, in 2019, which highlights his approach to jazz and improvisation. In early 2020, Quentin was awarded the Loudoun Arts COLLAB Artist Residency in which he composed “Loudoun Pastorale”, a suite for Classical instruments which was inspired by artwork of his local countryside. He continues to lead his own groups, performing arrangements of folk songs, originals, and jazz standards. Quentin also teaches piano, composition, and improvisation at The Catoctin School of Music in Leesburg, Va.
